Frequently asked questions.

Q: Do I need to have art experience or artistic talent to make a TIP lamp?

A: Nope! We’ve designed a user-friendly lamp making process that allows anyone to make a beautiful lamp.

Q: Are the lamp making workshops art therapy?

A: No. Although TIP workshops involve artistic self-expression and can be therapeutic, art therapy is a different approach. TIP workshops are a bit more goal directed – participants walk out with a beautiful, safe and functional lamp. In addition, we leave time for connecting, discussion and wisdom sharing.

Q: Can I help out with the workshops?

A: Yes! You can help as a facilitator or a workshop assistant. Workshop assistants help with the lamp making process. Facilitators help with the lamp making but also direct the process surrounding the lamp making including discussion and wisdom sharing. Please contact us if you’d like to be involved.

Q; Wow, I love what you’re doing - but why haven’t we heard more about you?  Why aren’t you in more places?  Where/when can I find a workshop?

A: We love to hear this…and it gives us anxiety!  We are a relatively new, small start-up nonprofit with huge potential.  Seriously huge.  TIP needs to be scaled up so that we can share our initiatives with a much, much wider audience.  The obstacle is resources: funding, time, personnel (they’re interrelated).

Q:  Obstacles?  Pfttt….

A:  Well, this is David Moss, answering - as the founder of TIP.  TIP is the 3rd, maybe even 4th, 5th or 6th career for me.  I’m old enough to know my strengths (creativity and visionary) but also my weaknesses.  As a “Boomer”, I’m lacking in social media and digital savvy compared to Millennials and Gen X-ers  And then there’s my personal time and resource constraints.    And I’ve never been a glad-handing fundraiser type.

What I’m saying is TIP deserves better than me.  I welcome young, energetic, savvy, passionate, creative, entrepreneurial folks who can take over TIP and grow it.  I’m happy to help and I will remain involved as long as I can contribute, but I’m more than willing to pass the tiller on to the next generation of helmsmen and helms-women!
